CONCERT OVERVIEW
On August 16, 2018, the world lost one of the most inspired artists of all time, Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin. In honor of her life and contribution, Women Rock will include a special musical and video tribute in all of our concerts as part of the upcoming seasons.
Women Rock brings together the music of Holly Knight, Carole King, Irene Cara, Janis Joplin, Aretha Franklin, Heart, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett and Tina Turner. The concert features hit songs including “I Feel The Earth Move,” “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” “Freeway of Love,” “Proud Mary,” “Piece Of My Heart,” “Dancing In The Street,” “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” “Love Is A Battlefield,” “Simply The Best,” “These Dreams,” “Lovin’ You,” “Flashdance,” and “You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman,” all expertly arranged by Grammy Award winner and pops conductor Jeff Tyzik.
Starring three of Broadway’s brightest young female stars and your orchestra, this incredible evening pays homage to the powerful singers and songwriters who changed rock n’ roll forever. An exciting option to include projected imagery of these iconic women throughout their careers during the concert is available.
Women Rock comes with all orchestral arrangements, three vocalists and at least one rhythm section musician. Projection of imagery is optional. Orchestra provides the conductor and additional rhythm section musicians. Technical Rider available upon request. Women Rock is a co-production of Greenberg Artists and Schirmer Theatrical.
SETTING THE TONE
Orchestras are encouraged to stream Schirmer Theatrical’s curated playlist of music in the style of Women Rock, in the house or lobby, 30-minutes prior to the start of the concert.
HIGH SCHOOL SING-OFF

WILLIE MAE ROCK CAMP
A portion of the proceeds from productions of Women Rock are donated to the Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls (WMRC), a non-profit music and social justice organization that empowers more than 500 girls and women in New York City through music education, volunteerism, and activities that foster safer spaces, self-respect, leadership skills, creativity and collaboration.
WMRC offers year-round and summer programs serving girls and gender non-binary youth ages 5-18. The Girls Rock! camp summer sessions (for ages 8-18), and Jumpstart summer rock camp (for ages 5-7), bring together intentionally diverse groups to explore identity and self-expression, ask questions of the world, build community, and act as leaders in their own process of musical creation. The non-profit also offers a three day Ladies Rock Camp intensive (for adults ages 19 and up), based upon their youth model. Year-round programming includes after school Rhythm & Voice workshops and Rock Out Today mini-camps in NYC public schools, as well as an Arts & Activism Fellowship which provides opportunities for teen women from low and moderate-income households to create their own podcasts, and explore the powerful combination of art and social justice.
